All the Fearless Nights
She sat out all alone, in the shallows of the night
To wonder at the constellations in the sky's spread
But when her father found her, admiring the prevailing light
He told her she could not return, for he saw the dark prevailing instead
She was split with ache, but her father didn't care a bit
For he told her she'd understand when she had children of her own
All the robbers and evils of the night, one day she'd see it
But instead she grew and missed all the stars that ever shone
So she gave life to her children, and let them sit in the night
Taught them to fear not of the night's beauty and ferocity
For even though her father only saw the dark, she still saw the light
And knew that being fearless made you free
So she sat in wonder of each night, pondering what would've happened
If she'd been allowed to see the nights just as they are
If her father hadn't barred her would she be more wiser of the end?
What would've happened, if she hadn't been kept from the stars?
