New Shoes

Do you remember who you were, before they told you who you should be? I do, it was the natural existence of you, but when you changed it felt as if I was dying, As you slowly grew your tiny feet into the demanding shoes of this society, I couldn't help but wish for the girl who wore her own dirty white sneakers and wasn't ever trying.  -anna sluder

Our Stories

We are the storytellers of our time Tales and laughter keep us this way  Even when we fade, our stories will always stay  Our lives ineffaceably intertwined.  -anna sluder

Not Just A Game

No one ever wins the game Life was just meant to be a stalemate No champions, trophy, or fame Just two blades pressing together at the same rate.  -anna sluder

Want of Peace

My heart slides around inside of my chest  So I press myself down into the ground to feel my opposite Something solid and stable when my heartbeat won't rest  But I find that the peace only comes in the inevitable dead beat moment.  -anna sluder

Soundless

I'm talking to you, baby don't you hear me?  He's here, but his mind isn't, it still sobs aching Honey please say something before I go crazy!  But his mind isn't here, I know because his silence is deafening.  -anna sluder

Train of Fear

She was quiet and she was afraid Scared of the dark and broken hearts She slept with her head under the bedsheets frayed Terrified of anything that wasn't a normal part  Of her monotonous life with guarded gates And thickly bordered lines Where she never did anything crazy or great Besides staying up to read past her bedtime  So she rode her train of fear Under the covers of her bed with her book But there is so much more if she'd come near To the train's window to just get a look  But she never had the bravery to try  So one day the trains ran off the track Her and the books burning, they were to die Never even knowing all the wonders of life she had lacked.  -anna sluder

Without Me

I'd like to think that without me the light wouldn't shine through the trees That the sky wouldn't stay blue But maybe that's just me So I wonder if it's the same for you.  -anna sluder

Stay You

I wouldn't like to think that people don't like change But I know it is true for me and for you We could never handle a world rearranged  Why else would the sky always stay blue?  -anna sluder

Moirai

I'd like to think that the stars don't write our fate into us When I look up to where the nebulas and supernovas are Instead I hope that we get to choose our own destiny  That instead we write ourselves into the stars.  -anna sluder

The Labyrinth

Here I am Lost in a labyrinth of beauty Lost in a labyrinth of strife  Because here I am in between Here I am stuck between the two walls of this life.  -anna sluder

Thoughts of the Night

The places at night that we go in our minds Traveling blindly in a maze of thoughts  Wondering if we are more roaming than wanting to find As we realize that there is nothing out there to be sought.  -anna sluder

Song of Your Existence

If your life were a melodious song What would it sound like when you hear it?  But more importantly what I want to know Is would I be written into the lyrics?  -anna sluder
