Explosion of Dawn

There is a grenade in the sky,   What everyone titles the sun,   The pin is pulled at dawn,   Which is why night breaks out into a run.           -anna sluder

The Hanging Tree

She asked me if we want to meet, Down by the hanging tree, Perhaps we could find a seat, In the crowded knoll so grassy, Watch dead legs swing, As the stool falls free, But when she gets there to see legs swaying, The stool falls and she drops to her knees, For the person that is hung is me.         -anna sluder       Inspired by the song The Hanging Tree.

Paper Feelings

The sky is blank paper tonight  Just like a page in my heart  I don't know what to say or what to write So I choose to shred the white apart I wonder if the sky feels the same It doesn't know whether to smile or to fret  So I'm not surprised when it bursts into orange flames Burning its paper feelings into the sunset.  -anna sluder

Different Parts of Me

I find that the people you love most, Are the people easiest to hurt and pain, But at least they see the real you,  The one with both thunder and sun in the rain.  -anna sluder

Orange Town Train

There is some horn  Then some wheels Clicking along some rails  Circling around our little orange town Like curls of black smoke  The train orbits around in a circle And I wonder why the town built A train track that only goes in a circle Revolving around and around          And                  around A caution sign, the smoke around  And around our little orange town  With orange people and orange signs The black train crackling and purrs  As it rotates around us And I cannot help but see  The train losing tangibility Becoming a black ghost in the air And our orange signs spark Our orange people ignite And I soon wonder  As the smell of oranges in the town Turns burning That the black veil around us  Blurs my eyes hot and wet And how could I have never known This sensation on my skin The taste of ash in my mouth That it was from the little black train Around and around  And              around                 us S

Why

there is no why to this that I do yet still you ask, why it is me you love? but it is like asking a bird with wings to soar and pursue  why do you fly O you winged dove?   -anna sluder

My Number One

Her soul drips into mine Like rain upon the sun Perhaps the rainbow that transpires is a sign That she is my one and only one. -anna sluder

The Quiet Ones

We were the quiet ones, Slunk against the wall, Confetti like dead birds, All around our feet, Free to roam, Yet caged to this wall, We Were just like the dead birds too, Colorful like confetti, A chaos of personalities, Quieted  by the death, The one moment we were freed, We didn't know that you could fall, Especially if you have wings, So the dead bird confetti, Is buried around our headstone feet, Watching the live birds sing, And dance and play, And when these living birds, Decide to make a visit, And honor our graves, Only for them to forget us, When they soon fly away, They ask us if we liked the dance, The dance of this life, But we are dead bird confetti, With our wings clipped back, So out of our forced quiet, All  that we can say, Is that oh yes, it was one great party.             -anna sluder

Supernova Kiss

Dark lips meet  The cracks of our skin beat With the humming glow of every star Lined up afar  In a cosmos place  And in the lips' crevices and space  Our stars transcend  Galaxies that we thought without end  Collapsing into each other's lips Is stronger than any eclipse We aren't dulling Instead we're brightening  Into a star with the gravitational pull Of its core never being quite full So the chaos of stars in mayhem  Faint between them For the most potent of lovers stars Collapse to explode off the radar  To make their cores full once again And have the greatest love over all men. -anna sluder

When I Look Into Your Eyes

i       am        lost somewhere in the galaxy of your eyes i     don't     mind    the    cost of wandering amongst your starstruck skies.  -anna sluder

The Sun and The Stars

What if the sun didn't always stay Far up in the sky?  It is only there for the day And shatters and then flies Into the stars from only one  When ready for the night The moon bumps into the sun To crack the sun into infinite lights. -anna sluder

Vacancy

The sea is destitute of oxygen, The arctic bland of days warm and bright, Just like Heaven is devoid of sin, And hell is devoid of light.   -anna sluder

Weight of the World

People do not carry the weight of the world upon their shoulders They bear it in their minds Like thousands of rocks and boulders Filling up every space it can find Dark thoughts are not harbored on your collar bone They swirl and breed inside of your head Deep inside where no one can hear your moan And you swear every fear that you think, no one has said And you feel so alone in these thoughts Because there's nobody there to tell you that they feel it too And that it is in fact worth fighting for your lot For the world truly does want you We don't carry the weight upon our shoulders, the pain We hold it in our thoughts spattered in black and red Which is why no one makes their shoulders slain Instead they hold the gun to their head.  -anna sluder

My Heart is Well

There is an abysmal well far and sunk down inside of me, The water from the pump in my heart runs cryptically deep, Through my veins as the pipeline it saves lives from being thirsty, But I've given so much that one day it will break and seep. -anna sluder

Shards of Glass

I found splinters of glass all over the floor, Someone wrecked it or perhaps it fell apart, I would've picked up the pieces in my time more, If I had known that it was the shards that were your heart.  -anna sluder

Mistress Love

If our love is a legend, Then I hope that the woman you had an affair with, Knows it will take lifetimes for our riven love to mend, And how I would've done anything for her intimacy to be a myth.                                                                                                                                    -anna sluder

Mourner's Morning

I wish your soul didn't have to ever flee As my ears beg not for the flatline tone I dread And I cry out my grief through the dripping of your IV  Hoping and praying as I wait on your deathbed.  -anna sluder
