One (To)day

One day I will snap these chains One day I will step outside of this box no matter to what other people say One day I won't be haunted by my every sin and stain  One day I will do it all, but maybe not today.  -anna sluder

School

Every year the rooms grow smaller Every year the number of kids shrink larger And we are riddled into thinking this is how it always was and were  Until one day, I will look around and see we've been chained in a box that we cannot conquer.  -anna sluder

Welcome to My Soul

I cracked open my soul, brought a bulldozer to set others aside So that I could squeeze you into the confines of my heart But in the end I had only a blank space, for you left too vain in your pride So the people I had swept aside were the ones who watched me as I fell apart.  -anna sluder

Everything: my first list poem

I believe in. Blue skies. Skies that blush at sunset. Red kites. Little hands. Laughter. Incandescence. Innocent smiles. Burnt embers of the summer. Leaves of the fall. Ink corrupted pages. Pencil scratches. Piano keys. All things made by fingers. And all things that are not. Joy. Wonder. Cathartic fears. Clear nights. Vagabonding minds. Constellations. Infinite universes. Infinite stars. Opaque. Translucency. Lullabies. Early mornings. Dawn. Grass with dew. And the light through the trees. Jesus. Humanity. Blood shed for me. Miracles. Rain spilling. Canvases. Fingers spattered with paint. Painting your dreams and letting your dreams paint you. Teacups and stories. Gardens. Simplicities and complexities. feet padding the earth. Wanderlust. Stained maps. Crinkled noses. Throwing your head back when you laugh. And blowing bubbles through your straw.wrinkles. Baby cheeks. Skin colors. Culture. Rising in love rather falling in it. Infallibilities. Silent tears. Tides sloshing in. Everythin

Starry Dreams

I laid my head to rest upon the stars Pressed my cheek upon galaxies from afar  And fell asleep to the lullabies of nebulas As I slept on a bed of stardust.  -anna sluder

Caution, Danger

The only thing dangerous  Is when one thinks an unknown having peril is a must  When truly one won't fear drowning in the vivacious waves of the sea Unless one lets there minds think it to be.  -anna sluder

Every Bit

Give me bleeding sunrises and sunsets Paling clouds during the day and ineffable stars at night Grant me everything beautiful there is from the east to the west I want all of you, all of this goodness, I want every single bit of light.  -anna sluder
