To Have This Dance

Raise up your hands and squeal Leap through the meadows and around  Live in happiness as if it is that all you can feel And forget that your feet touch the ground  My child, dance to the music of this earth Why do you think the wind chases dandelion seeds? The world tries to halt our stirring since mankind's birth But my darling do not let them succeed Why do you think that the grasses sway? They cannot suppress the music inside, It wasn't supposed to be this way, Where people think melodies are what you hide  Nothing was ever meant to be completely still Even flowers grow from seed to bloom They dance on top of the rolling grassy hills Knowing there is time to be still in the tomb Dance to the music of the streams  Waltz to the ballad of the wind Foxtrot to the melody of the swaying sunbeams  And do not let your feet be pinned My love, back by the angst of others Dance to the bird's singing shrill  Listen to the music of your ea

Why Do You Run?

Oh my darling, why do you run? There is nothing here to run away from You'll find there is nowhere that you have come Until you learn to dance along to the wind that hums.  -anna sluder

We My Friend, Are Made of Paper

The cross eyed girl at the library And the man with thin soled shoes on the street Are infallibly different from me With stories just as incomplete The woman with two babies on each hip And the people that I do not even notice Between the cracks is where they slip Each one of so many lives that I miss But perhaps to other people too I am just as easy to fade as if I wasn't there at all  But how I wish I know and I wish I knew All the stories on this paper world that are scrawled I wish I could read deeply from every story Each person on this paper earth For how kind we would be if we could see The pain and the good after each birth  For if we were able to read the lives of all that exist Before they were children, adults, and lovers We'd give a love to each other where no one is missed  For then we wouldn't judge each book by their paper covers.  -anna sluder

Wander & Roam

They said that it is those anchored  stars that will guide you home As if this place isn't enough, so then we should not stay near  Because not all who wander are lost so everyone must roam Never even knowing the anchored stars are there to tell us to stay here.  -anna sluder

Hello, Again

Hello, this is my name Holding her wrinkly hand then, Perhaps she'd remember how yesterday I came  But instead I introduce myself to my mother again. -anna sluder

Made of String

The girl was made of strings They could be strummed to make a music but  It all depended on which person she was with For she learned that some would rather have them cut.  -anna sluder

Made of Ice

She was swimming with icy thoughts With the need to thaw out her mind But there is no warmth inside of her Nothing even lukewarm that she could find.  -anna sluder
