Rainbow

I desperately crave to know
If red is actually hot and blue truly cold
When you touch the colors of a rainbow
Will green smell like grass and in yellow are there chinks of gold?
Maybe orange will taste like the fruit and Violet will be a person
Will the colors be alive or only ghosts from the sun and rain?
I want to slide down the colors, into a pool of sun
And ride the rainbow like jumping on the tail-end of a train
I want to swim in the stripes of seven to a million colors
And meet Mr. ROY G BIV face to face
See if indigo is more blue than Violet who with purple is more fuller
And dance in the rainbow's white strip of lace
Rainbows are the castles of color up in the sky
That you can visit when you need untainted safety
They are the colorful strings for the things you can't tie
And a comfort for those who realize life isn't all sunshine and daisies.
