Ignorant Sky

The sky is always blue, always
even when bombs fall and bodies rise
one would think the sky would darker
twisting and convulsing as it chokes
on the ash of scorched flesh
on the smoke of innocent souls
you'd think it would dark, just a little
but the sky is glaringly blue,
the color as loud as the sirens,
that won't get there in time
Bitterly bright
like a masked smile over the shredding insides
a child wearing white to the funeral
the unintentional sadist
ignorant to all the looming tragedy screaming in its face
deaf, deaf to me, deaf to you
and all the while, blaringly blue.
